Living With Genital Warts
Having genital warts is not the end of every thing. If you have a sexually transmitted disease, you just need not to be fatal. Only you need to go to the doctor to get the warts removed. What Is Genital Warts?
The possibility to get genital warts is from sex with someone who carries the condyloma virus. You can get genital warts from any kind of sex – you can get them on or in your genitals, anus and very rarely you can get them in your mouth from oral sex. The condyloma virus is very common, but only a few will be effected and develop warts.
Although genital warts looks like a common wart that you can get on any other part of your body and may feel like a common wart, it is unlike a common wart. It will not go away on its own. It is also contagious. A genital wart can be either a flat or lumpy growth and usually is not painful. It will appear in a different color than the skin of your genitals or anus.
What Should I Do?
You should make a general inspection of your genitals for any genital warts if you have been or suspect you have been engaging in risky, unprotected sex. If you suspect you may have contracted genital warts you should:
- Consult your doctor. You may have to take a test to make absolutely sure that the peculiar growths are genital warts
- You will need to have follow ups of your check up with your doctor to get rid of the genital warts, which can usually be in a doctor’s clinic. Make sure proper follow ups are made.
- Contact all of your current sexual partners and let them know of your situation to see if they should get tested
- Take any prescribed medicines exactly as indicated in the instructions
- Let your doctor know if you are pregnant, which may need a different treatment
- When you have sex again, use condoms. This will greatly reduce your risk of contracting an STD again or giving it to someone else
A genital wart, once removed, might come back. This is because medical science has not yet found a way to completely eradicate the virus. The trick is to keep the virus quiet, thus relieving the symptoms. |
